Milo's daycare just rang me becuase he has red, dry cheeks and they're wrried its slap cheek.
He's had slap cheek, can they get it more than once and would htere be other symptoms?
He always has red dry cheeks - he has dry skin that we have to moisturise every day, so Im not sure what to do I cant pull him out of daycare because he has dry skin.
Hi Rayray,
Slapped cheek or parvovirus can recur in 50% of people (most are immune for life). Kids will usually be ill with flu-like symptoms before the rash appears - slapped cheek look on face and a lacy red rash over trunk and body.
Even if Milo does have it, there's no point pulling him out of daycare as he is no longer infectious. Only infectious before rash appears. Take him to the Dr though - they can easily diagnose it. GL
PS.
Try using QV wash and dermaveen lotion for the dry skin. Maybe even a 0.5% cortisone cream (like Dermaid soft ) for just a few days for the "rash" to settle ( if it isn't parvo).
