    Energy drinks - V & Red Bull

Does anyone drink energy drinks such as V or Red Bull?

    Do you think they work??

I've recently started drinking them and i can't seem to find the "energy" they provide!

They do work for some, but unfortunately I have an intolerance to guarana and it causes me to have a massive come down the day after (DH was the one who put two and two together). I only ever used them when I wasn't BF'ing and had late nights with bubbas. Haven't had one in oooo 6 yrs.

i have a can of V prior to going to the gym or when i need to get my energy levels up.

DH got me onto them. He swears by them. i am intolerant to high levels of caffeine as it makes me go all hyper to the point where i can't sleep and have anxiety issues.

I'm just trying to find a happy medium.

Well considering i can count on 1 hand how many times I've been drunk in the past 8 years (with being preg, BF or ttc havent had the time!) I have to drink vodka with redbull just to keep me awake if I'm drinking

Seems to work for me, without it I'm asleep after the 1st drink!

Have you tried Juice Shots? I haven't had the guarana ones yet because I'm breastfeeding (I hear they are great), but I have had the other ones & they are pretty good.

The only place I have seen them is Woolworths (Safeway) in the cold aisle with the juices, I have to give credit to Rouge though, she recommended them to me I think they're $4 for a pack of four. This is the info I found on them -

If you are looking for an energy boost, we recommend the new Juice Shots from Tasmanian company, Juicy Isle. A fun alternative to vitamins and a healthier option than many other energy boost drinks; these are made from 100% juice.

Designed for people on the go, each shot is packaged in an individual 150ml container. Juice Shots are low in sugar, contain no sweeteners, artificial flavours, colourings or preservatives…and they actually taste good!

    In two flavours:

    Vita-boost - Vitalise & Stimulate Body & Soul
Ingredients: Goji berri, super fruit acai, omega 6+9, vitamins, orange & apple juice.

Invigorate - Energise, Invigorate, Revive & Sustain
Ingredients: Super fruit aronia, guarana, raspberry, vitamins & apple juice.

I'm a bit confused - is there only a little bit of juice in them then? Juice is high in sugar and that says low in sugar - or maybe they don't count natural sugars?

Pretty much all the energy drinks work on boosting your blood sugar or caffeine level - which is great for the period when it's up, and then leaves you really flat and drained when it drops. And of course it becomes addictive also. And many of them also raise your bp a lot.

To optimise your energy levels, the theory is to avoid all caffeine and maintain a constant blood sugar level - basically avoid sugars also, to eat a balanced, healthy diet, drink plenty of water, get enough sleep and enough exercise. I don't know many of us that manage that (I know I don't), but you are probably best off trying to improve in those areas rather than spending money on a quick fix.

They are 190ml, so not a lot.
