Could someone suggest a site I can look at to see if DH is getting the right wages?
He is only a casual labourer at the moment, but at 27 I'm sure $14 an hour casual seems a bit low.
On his work place agreement contract thing he signed it said he would be getting $17 an hour, but his payslips are only saying $14.
Does this sound confusing to anyone else?
Is this right, or should he be getting at least the $17 an hour his contract says??
OK. I have worked out basically that DH is on absolute minimum wage. He's on $14.96 an hour. Federal minimum wage is $14.31 an hour.
Has any one got any idea's why his agreement says $17 an hour & he's only getting $14? Am I missing something? I don't really want to ring anyone til I know I haven't just over looked something simple.
$3 an hour seems a heck of a lot for super.
Hmm. I thought super was paid by the employer? Not out of wages? Well there's only employer super listed on his pay slip.
There is no mention on his payslips anywhere of $17 an hour. You'd think they'd have that before deductions.
At the bottom it says
Hourly Rate - 14.9636
Tax Code - 1
Super is generally 9 percent of your wage, so in this case if it were to say $17 per hour including super you would expect that $1.53 (9%) of that would be paid to super and the rest ($15.47) paid as an hourly rate. Super is paid by employers but they are able to word it in a contract as $17 per hour including super as it is still a payment to you, just not as a wage.
Having said all that, if he's on $14, it's still too low even when taking super into account, so I suggest that you should ring wageline.
Hope this helps.
Is it definitely a casual rate?
In other industries casual rate is 20% higher than full/part time etc.
So that would take the $14.96 to $17.90 ... is that a possibility??
Definitely check over the contracts and see... then I would call wageline / IR and see what they suggest before speaking to his employer.
He's definetely casual. He only started about 4 or 5 weeks ago. I've been worried about that. I really don't want him going on permanent at that rate, coz that'd mean it'd go down to about $12 an hour.
Nah, had too much going on with sick kids, Bri in hospital.
I need to find the contract, but DH says that with his loading & freezer allowance it works out. I think he's guessing,
