My poor Bri has tonsilitis. I need to try to get 20 mls of penicillin in to her tonight, but she doesn't like the taste & is to drowsy to drink it in a drink.
She's had half a drink of it mixed in lemonade (I know, not the best drink, but I needed something) & is asleep again.
Any idea's what else I can do to help her?
This mightn't help with the ABs or panadol, but might soothe. I used to get tonsilitis a lot as a kid (but nobody would take the buggers out til I was 20!)
* icy poles, although I always preferred plain ice, the sugar was hard to swallow. Tell her she doesn't have to swallow it, can just put it in her mouth and spit it out, then put it back in. It may numb her throat enough that you can get the Panadol or ABs in after.
* wet frozen face washer to suck on if she's into that.
* fizzy panadol, still my go-to if I have a sore throat, even though no more tonsils. Probably not OK for littlies though.
* orange juice - I don't know why, but it seemed to help so much
Keep on trying - just keep reminding her that it will help.
Thankyou
Ice sounds like a good idea. A friend suggested gargling the aspro stuff too, but she's too young for any of that stuff.
I'm going to try slowly sneaking the abs into her mouth overnight while she's asleep. Hopefully she'll swallow before spitting.
I feel so bad & want her to be out of pain, but I can't help her
Her neck is so swollen up
