Has anyone had Tubal Ligation and been happy with it?

I've been reading the Tubal reversals thread, and about the complications and issues many women have after the procedure. There's not much positive to read about it.

I really don't want any more children, I'm happy with what i have, I feel totally complete. And i'm not really keen on being on hormonal birth control for the rest of my fertile life. I was thinking about this procedure, but I've not heard anything positive about it.

Just wondering if its actually been good for anyone?

We have considered it, after this one, cos I'm pretty darn positive this one will be the last. And I even offered to get it done to DH cos if I end up having another section, well, they're in there anyway, may as well "fix" me up!!

DH decided that since I go through all the pain of having the kids - he'll get done. Its an easier recovery for him, and since I'm the one at home with the kids - and he's at work - its easier for him to get it done.

I think I was worried about it all to be honest - the procedure, side effects - everything. But I didn't want to take the pill till I went through menopause either!!! LOL

Luckily DH volunteered. Plus its easier to reverse his "fix" than mine - just in case

Mel and Tan, DH and I have recently had this conversation too, and my DH has said that after all these years it is finally his turn, so after this baby, and when we are ready he will be off for the "snip". I too was willing, but concerned for me, and vowed never to take chemical hormones again... So this is our option too.

And we need something as reliable as possible as I will be on some serious medication which you cannot get pregnant on... Which is why we are discussing surgery.

HOn..I had it done, suffered badly and had 3 pg's in the 2 years they were on(all leading to m/c's). I ended up having a reversal, having my 2 babies and with the last one had my tubes taken out.

Ive had no pain when my period is here for the first time in my life. And unless I actually put it on the calender I dont even know their here until im on the loo and the evidence is on the paper .

If you are 100% sure that you dont want any more children perhaps consider doing what I have done instead of getting your tubes tied or clamped. I dont regret it (other then when im clucky )

Do you mean you fell pregnant despite the tubal ligation maz? and then you actually had the tubes removed?

My dh isn't willing to consider the snip unfortunately.

For emotional reason i will never be able to have a vaginal birth again, and pregnancy is a very traumatic time for me, so i really need to 100% avoid this ever happening. I also just feel complete. And once we get past the night waking and nappies, i can't see ever wanting to go back. I just want to get on with my life and enjoy my boys being older and not babies. I've realised i'm just not a baby person if you get what i mean? The only reason i might ever want a child is if i were to lose one, god forbid, but i can't think that way.

I fell pg with the clamps on hon.....it was one of the reasons why I had my tubes reversed before I had Vy and then when I had my c/s with Mateauz I had my tubes removed.

I dont have very good pg's at all...and it was also one of the reasons I asked for my tubes to be removed as I couldnt emotionally and pyhsically go through another pg..so I hear you hon totally. Im also looking forward to watching my babies grow into people and see their life's bloom infront of them

    hon..your doing a wonderful job
