    Procrastinating about packing hospital bags..

Not sure why, but I know I am procrastinating about packing my hospital bags! I have DP and my mum nagging me to get started, but I just seem to keep finding other things to do.. (like posting on BB )

I just dont know how much to pack, and I dont want to go overboard. I am going through a midwife program, so it is designed to be a short stay (literally overnight, if all goes well).

Funny thing is I dont know why its an issue, as we are only 5 mins from hospy and DP can always pop home to get more if need be!!

I am the same! Lol. I only thought about starting to pack it a couple of days ago...but like you we live literally 2 mins from the hospital so DF can always go back home for anything I need, and I don't really know what to pack. I don't particularly want to forget anything, but I don't want to look I'm going on an overseas holiday for 2 weeks either DF always complains I pack way too much when we go away for just a weekend! Lol

At least now I have an excuse....the bag I need is full of DF's clothes and is still in his car from when he went to Melbourne last weekend. So I have to wait for him to unpack it before I can re-pack it. Seeing as it took me unpacking the cot from it's box and making an attempt to put it together, to get him to actually do it when I've been asking him for the last couple of weeks to set it up....I don't hold out high hopes for him unpacking the bag without me nagging me for at least a week about it!

Glad its not just me I have started a list! DP just came home from work and asked me if I did it today.. it was also the last thing he said before he left this morning.. "make sure you pack your bags today". Nope still havent done it.

I think your DF and DP must be very similar - we (being him.. and me nagging him to do it) only just got the cot done on the weekend finally!

I've got the bag out, I've bought some stuff (eg. spare toothbrush, toothpaste etc so I can leave my regular ones out).... and I just can't bring myself to pack the bag!!!

I'm over 39 weeks and haven't packed mine or the baby's either, LOL!! I keep using the excuse that I need the stuff so I can't pack it. Seems to be working so far, LOL! Last time I packed at 11pm (in early labour) when I was being induced at 7am the next morning. You've got heaps of time.

That's a great idea to live out of your suitcase. I'd be afraid that I'd forget something though. How do you keep track of what is in there and what isn't?

I had packed the babies side, but then moved half of it into the baby bag to go to qld. Now I have to repack it and my side of the bag. But I am still using the clothes normally too, but probably should pack them and ignore them else they will be dirty when I need them because all the rain is limiting how much washing we can do.

ah, procrastinators unite. On the fence... tomorrow.

I'm going to get them packed pretty soon cause i had the doctor nagging me about it today. "Miss L, you have a very big baby, so the possibility of you going into early labour is quite high, so you need to be prepared"

I'll get around to it sometime....lol

I just wash more often(every 2 days). Makes it easier as i only have 2 pair of pants that fit me. As soon as its off the line its back in the bag. So really no need to worry about not having enough clothes in the bag.

I did go out and buy new, body wash, toothbrush and paste etc, so i didnt have to worry about packing that.

What i must do now is make a list of the things i cant pack and where they live(if DF or other person need to get them) eg phone charger, camera, ipod, portable dvd player etc.

yeah go Dan! While you're at it, want to pack mine?

I see that DF has actually taken the bag out of the car - without me even asking/hinting so who knows..maybe he can do the next step (i.e. removing items in bag and putting them in the dirty laundry) without me asking as well...I can always hope. Lol

hehehe how funny!! I had my midwife ask me about it at todays appointment as well..

My list hasn't moved from the desk... but I did manage to get together a few toiletries today, small things of shampoo, conditioner, tooth paste, hair ties...

Maybe tomorrow, I will get some more done

I decided that I am too tired to think about packing the bag or to decide what goes in it until after I finish work in 2 weeks time. Same with baby's room. Someone asked me what I would do if it came early, I simly said "it can't be early, I wont be ready".

I figured keeping the mental health intact is more important.
