Diarrhea - when to be concerned?

DD has got diarrhea. At first it wasn't too bad (started to look a little runny yesterday), but it's getting worse. Much worse. Today I have changed 7 (yes 7) runny nappies that looks like poo coloured water (sorry if TMI). Everytime she farts, she's poops.

Her poor little bottom is so red, the poos are burning her. I have changed her as soon as I've noticeds o it's not that she's been sitting in them for long.

She doesn't seem ill. Was a little off her lunch (but that might have been because we were at a friend place and she just wanted to play), but she ate all of her dinner. She is still happy and I'm keeping up her fluids

At what point do I take her to the dr's? Another day....2?

oh your poor bub her bottom must be so sore.
it sounds like you are doing everything right, keeping up the fluids. i'd prob wait and see how she is overnight and tomorrow and go from there. has she eaten anything different?
not much help sorry, but i do hope it improves for you.

As long as she's not dehydrating, she is probably ok for a couple of days. I think doctors will start thinking about testing a stool sample once it's gone on for longer than 48 hours. If she's drinking plenty that's a good thing. Unfortunately diarrhoea is awful on little bottoms - even once they are in undies and doing it in the toilet it seems to make them red raw. Plenty of barrier cream is a good idea.

I hope it eases for you soon hun - it doesn't take long to be totally over poo!!

I would see how she goes tomorrow. If it has not started to ease then perhaps a visit to the Doc is a good idea. Don’t worry too much about food but make sure that she has plenty of fluid. You can also use lots of cream on her bottom every time you change her nappy. Any barrier/nappy cream will do.
