Where is AF - 7+ weeks since D&C and she's still a no show
I think my title says it all...I'm beginning to get a bit anxious.
After my first m/c last year (missed m/c), I had a D&C and AF came back 6 weeks later and was her regular self.
Now, 7 plus weeks after my D&C (for a m/c which wasn't a missed m/c but still required a D&C 2 weeks after the m/c), I'm still waiting.
My GP ran some BTs last week to confirm that my HCG had returned to zero post-D&C (I had monitored it down to 4, but then went away for 3 weeks) and also to confirm that I didn't beat the odds and get pregnant on my own. BT confirmed HCG < 2 (which is zero - they don't have a 0 reading).
I emailed my FS and am now waiting for a slip for more BTs - she said "I will send you a FSH.LH estradiol progesterone tsh BHCG and prolactin blood test. If they are ok I will get you to take provera to induce a bleed."
Has anyone had this experience re: AF not showing for some time after a D&C?
Does anyone know what my FS is looking for and what type of treatment Provera involves? I looked it up and it's progesterone and can be used to trick your body into thinking it is time to menstruate because you have a drop in progesterone after you ovulate - but I couldn't find anything on the treatment plan or how long it takes to work.
hi buliej, I dont have any answers for you but just wanted to let you know I hope things start moving forward for you very soon. Waiting and being in limbo is not fun.
Sorry I am not of much help. I guess the Provera would work into tricking your body into believing its had a progesterone drop and AF returns so its sounds the the quick fix into making AF return. As for how its administered I wouldn't have a clue. I have heard of many women not having AF return for several months after a D&C so its sounds very normal however if your needing AF to return to ttc again then the provera is probably the go to speed it up. Sorry I am not of any help.
