    PCOS girls - I have a Q for you

I have PCOS and suffer from thrush all the time.

I had a swab done and the pathology could not find any pathogens. The dr. suggests that its hormonal. I'm just wondering if it could be linked to PCOS and the hormonal differences which occur from that

My Q is: do you suffer from thrush frequently too??

I have PCO (so just the ovaries not the full syndrome) and I don't get thrush very often at all. I've had it a few times in my life which usually coincides with antibiotics.

Now that you mention it TD - yes I do!! But I'm always too embarrassed to go to the doc, so have never had a swab done

I find I get it if I've been naughty and had Coke or something equally sugary - maybe to hormones aren't breaking down the sugar properly??

hmmm. SG, now that you mention it. It does happen when i eat too many sugary foods too. May be it is insulin related.

Yeah i was gonna say have you had your insulin levels checked. If you have insulin resistance associated with PCOS you will have high levels of insulin circulating in the bloodstream and they can test for that. If you are insulin resistant it is likely you don't deal well with a lot of High GI foods in your diet....in this case a low GI diet and lots of good broad spectrum pro biotics can work wonders...

can you get your insulin levels tested by just a normal blood test through your GP or do you need to see a specialist?

My endocrinologist put the final diagnosis that i had PCOS after a million and one tests/scans/u/s etc..
My testosterone levels were really high.
