URGENT: any vets online? Problem with my dog

we have a 10MO american staffy, this morning he isnt walking on his back legs and his joints are warm to touch? Its been pretty cold at night here could it be that? He doesnt appear to be in pain, just cant walk on his back legs? If he doesnt get better soon im going to have to take him to the vet! He was ok last night

Why don't you call a vet?I remember when my cat was only a kitten and I was feeding him raw kangaroo mince.... his back legs went all wobbly. It was an infection caused by the meat. He needed AB and real cat food.

Good luck and I hope it's nothing serious.

Oh dear Ammaki, let us know how you go - I agree ring a vet - I know in Melbourne there are 24 hour emergency pet hospitals, surely there is one in QLD? Check the yellow pages?

OooOoh kangaroo mince is very rich for a kitten... chicken mince is much better... its more like the natural diet of a cat... birds and rodents...

let us know how you go.

I'm a vet nurse, I work in a specialist centre now in Sydney and an Emergency Critical Care centre...

I would take him in. There are a few reasons a dog won't use the back legs, some are internal reasons, neurological, toxins and spinal injuries. It could be arthritis, but in a 10 month old, that would be a far fetched idea.

Check him for ticks, I know its not tick season, but we have seen a few nymphs around that have been able to infect animals with toxins... make sure thats not it.

Staffy's are pretty robust and often will suffer in silence, so please take him in.

i took him in ... Had to carry him to the car ... Got him out of the car at the vet and what do ya know, he walked lol. Typical male, get him to the docs and he's fine. They weighed him, 34kg and all muscle lol so theres my work out! No ticks, she stretched all this legs out and stuff, all ok. He got a shot and some anti biotics just in case.

So glad he's ok. & with a 2 and 4yo (DSD & am baby sitting a little boy)...hats off to you single mums, well all mums for that matter?! Thanks so much for all your help and advice ladies!
