Who Does NOT Have a Large Flat Screen TV

Just so that i dont't feel like the last person in the Western World not to have a big flat TV I'd love to hear if you don't and why. We could afford one I guess but the reason we haven't is because:

I'm worried the kids will break/damage it. We bought our last TV (a small one) from Cash Converters and within a week my 2yo had broken the on/off button. They also did something to the set top box plug so that now that doesn't work either! And they pulled off the Sony metal logo. I just can't see how to stop them from touching the TV. I wonder how other families manage it. My kids aren't out-of-control. Generally they are good but they seem to have a habit of fiddling with things that they shouldn't while my back is turned. We only paid $200 for this TV but i would dread to think how much i would worry if we had a $2000 one within their reach.

Another reason we don't have one is because I suspect they chew up alot of electricity. A friend of ours has one and you can feel the heat coming from it... it's crazy.

We'll probably get a mid sized one soon when Free TV goes fully digital.

I also will never allow the kids to have a TV in their bedrooms. I know some families who allow this and this seems to help them from needing to touch the family TV but that's not an option here.

Are there any othr reasons i haven't thought of to delay buying a new flat TV?

We don't!!! And we don't miss out on anything I don't think. Although we do have a TV tuner in our PC which has a flat screen monitor, which actually is great to watch.

I do have one but I hate it, doe sthat count? It came with dh- a package deal

It's just too big to watch comfortably. And I hate ds watching it because it's so big. You can definately feel the heat coming off it, I hate to think about the power it chews. And it just seems so anti- social- the tv is the dominant feature of our lounge room.

I find I sleep better without a lot of electricial equipment in my room, so no tv there. I know a family who put one in their dd's room from six months old....

We don't have one! Nothing wrong with the tv we have, but we would like to get one before tv goes fully digital. Perhaps we should follow the cliche and use our baby bonus to buy a plasma....

Ah yes, my BIL is giving us his old (which is actually quite recent as he used to work in IT) computer with a large flat screen monitor and i suspect it might have a TV tuner with it too. i've never watched Tv from a 'pute before. DH also has bought a new lap top which i'm using now... it has a large widescreen and he put in a DVD movie the night he got it and i couldn't believe how well it looked! But I'm not really into TV... except for the news, Miss Marple, Grand Designs, Spicks & Specks (all ABC shows) i don't watch much and neither does DH... i guess thats another reason for our delay.

We don't have one either. I would be ok with getting an LCD but I refuse to let DH until our current tv breaks. I can't justify buying a replacement when the old one still works. Just more landfill. We have pay TV so digital is not a problem.

No big flat screen here! We mostly watch movies (and shows in DvD form) on our laptops so our small TV that flickers between black & white and colour is fine for the few shows we do want to see haha. We could get a bigger, better TV and I think DF would appreciate it for gaming purposes but I think the main thing stopping us is being too lazy to go to the shops and find one etc etc. Maybe I will get him one for Christmas...

My parents have a TV that takes up an entire wall... gives me a headache, I would never get one that big!!

We don't have one either. I don't necessarioy want one, but will probably get a mid sized one when tv goes digital. Either that or just a set top box. We do have a tv and dvd player in the kids room, but they're not plugged in and we don't use them. It's just there cause we have nowhere else to put it and I want to keep it for when we get our house...

We don't! We have a perfectly good normal tv that we will not replace until it dies which could be 10 years away as it is a good quality one.

We don't have a flat screen TV and I actually get headaches from looking at flat screen TV's when over at friends houses to watch a movie or whatever. So just on that I would never buy one. Andrew has been pestering me to get a flat screen monitor for the laptop, but for the above reason I just don't want one.
