    Not all Obs are bad...

The first thing my Ob said to me today, after checking that I was going well was...

How are you going with your VBAC? Got any questions?

Which lead to a quick chat about it, and him confidently saying that we are, at this stage looking good for it, and that we have NO need to discuss c-sect dates at this stage.

So for him and my confidence levels!!!

    VBAC here I come!!!!!

That is awesome news! I love my OB despite all the backlash they get these days. A close friend is studying midwifery and she heard just the other day on the grapevine that my OB actually caught one of his patient's babies while she delivered drug free in the squat position. I hadn't envisaged the OB's getting in amongst it like that but I'm so happy to hear mine likes to get his hands (and possibly suit!) dirty

I agree that is great & lucky you to have this OB!

but...if I as a private patient was paying an OB...any OB...I would fully expect that they would do this. Isn't that part of what you pay them for?

Absolutely! It's just with all the OB bashing that goes on, I was a tad bit surprised that my OB did this. That's terrible, I know, but I guess I'd started to believe everything I'd been reading about OB's.

I know what you mean it is sad but understandable that we start to feel like this.

So a cheer for your OB and lucky you to have him !

Thanks girls, it is funny how good and excited a little unprompted encouragement and support can make you feel.

Plus I have been reading reading reading all about VBAC and feeling so positive about it atm. So go team VBAC!!!!

    Thats great news

My OB and her backup recently let someone I know try for a VBA2C. They let her actively labour for over 20 hours and a CS was never mentioned until the mum actually made the decision herself that a repeat cs was what was needed in the end. In this case it was actually the midwife at the hospital freaking out more than the OB was.

Wow that's fantastic, how great for that mother to be able to make the decision herself.

Yes, that's why I think she is at peace with how it all panned out. She was in control and making all the decisions the whole time.

My OB refused to take me if I wasn't going to try for a VBAC. She has helped deliver a baby on the floor while in her high heels - I cracked up when she told me that.
