Tip for saving money on Insurance

I was an insurance Manager for about 3 years with one of the big companies and just a tip.
You can bluff the insurance company by saying so and so have quoted me this much can you beat it. All the big companies like RAC, RACV, SGIO, AAMI, Allianz etc will price match!

Example: I bought an 02 ute last week. Rang RAC and they quoted me $1148 per annum, I then rang GIO (here in WA) and was quoted $889 per year. I then bluffed them and said oh thats very expensive. I just spoke to RAC and they quoted me $560 per year, can you match that?. The girl said hold on one moment I will check with my team leader. she then came back and said that they will do better than match it they will do it for $559 per year. thats a total saving of $589 per year off the first quote .
I am really cheeky though. I do this every year when its time for renewal on all my insurances ie home, contents, personal valuables and all cars.

Well worth the 25c phone call to shop around

    Goodluck

Don't they ask to see a quote? That seems like a fairly big loophols LOL

unless you have cars etc that can only be covered by one or two specialist companies - I have no choice but to use one insurance company for my vehicles because one is modified and the other is imported

We found it great to save insurance by having all our insurance through the one company. They give us a discount because we do our car insurance and our house insurance all in the same place. We go through RACQ and get an extra discount because we are members as well as no claim bonus and rating one for life etc.

We have used quoting another insurance companies quote to get a lower price and they do ask to see the quote. Just like if you tell them you have a rating one, you have to prove it by providing them with your previous insurance policy.

Well as I said, I worked as a state manager for one of the big companies for 3 years and we did not need to see proof of the quote.
Also did the same thing with GIO last week when I bought my ute and they didn't even mention seeing this other quote.
Try it and you will see.
It may be different here in WA but sure isn't everytime it comes up for renewal I do the same thing and it works.

    Each to their own though.
