Tax and dependants question?

Just a simple one... does anyone know... is Jazz considered Shel's dependent for the 08-09 year?

if shel is her legal gardian, then yes. If shes not, well thats hard. Do u have dependants if the child is not your biological child but you look after them?? hard one... mayb ring the tax department, they will be able to help you.

Leash - given you are not classed as a couple in the governments eyes until today, i would say no. you received PPS for Jazz which makes her, from their perspective, YOUR legal and financial responsibility. this year will be very different, but i would think no for the past financial year.

If you recieved PPS, I think they would find it suss that someone else is claiming her as a dependant!!!

No. With DHs I could only put his three biological because his guardianship of my eldest two is not yet 'legal' despite having been their father for 9 years. I do plan on getting at the very least medical consent through the tribunal soon but until then he can't be as he is not their biological parent.
