Length and size of the baby

    Hi ladies.
was just doing some research on the net as to how big/long my baby is now at 23/40.

I read on one site that he/she is already approx 27 cms long from toe to crown?!! Is that correct, or is there a misprint on the site. I could imagine it being this big already...surely?

Could someone shed some light on how rapid it will grow from here on. For example what length it will be by say 26 weeks, and 30 weeks?

    thankyou

I would say that's right. I don't know exactly the growth rate, but my boys were 50cm and 51cms long at birth (and the longer one was 4 weeks early!).

Of course the sites you find will give averages - they are all different.

wow.. i was so surprised at how long it is already. I guess it sits curled up in there, so it pro seems smaller, but i guess it could be. I just pictured a 30 cm ruler, and thought WOW!!!

This might give you something else to think about .......... and laugh as I did.

Most babies seem to be between 50 and 52cm when they are born. Fully grown I am 152cm which means that most babies are 1/3 or more my height when they are born ............. pretty amazing that they can grow that long inside and pretty amazing just how little in comparision I've grown since then.

Gave me the giggles when I first realised this statistic

    Hi First Time Mummy
Your baby should be about 27-28cm by 23 weeks and its weight will be about 450g

Brendan was 40.5cms at 30+1 weeks.
Tristan was 50cms at 34+3 weeks.

A close friend of mine had her bub at 25+6 weeks and she was 30.5 cms long.
I have a few friends who had bubs at 24 weeks and they were around the 600-700 grams mark.

Meadsie, that made me chuckle too as I'm only 158cm.

Sally, Tristan was a big boy for premmie! Might have a basketballer!!

First time mummy, my 1st and 3rd were both 51cm and 2nd was 48.5cm.

Another height fact...if you measure the height of your 2yr old and times it by 2 that is approximately how tall they will be as an adult...or so I have read!

Hi Jas Thats a statstic I've heard too.

However will need to wait quite a few years to see if it comes through. My friends kids (who we did measure) are still only littlies with heaps of growing to grow. Problem is by the time they get to fully grown we probably won't remember what they were at 2
