    Numb hand

    Hi everyone!
I've been waking up in the night with a numb hand, my left hand, but only when I'm on my back. I go to sleep on my side and I wake up on my back with a numb hand.
Anyone got any idea if this is pregnancy-related? I'm about 23 weeks now. I don't feel any other discomfort on my back. I've read that some artery can be squashed by the baby but this doesn't seem as serious as a squashed artery.
The numbness goes away quite quickly when I roll onto my side and wiggle my fingers a bit.

I get it too. Wedge a pillow behind you so you are never completely on your back. They say you should try and avoid sleeping on your back as it can cut off an artery to you or the baby.. this is my fav postion however so the pillow thing usually works for me..

It could be the start of carpal tunnel syndrome which can be quite common during pregnancy due to fluid retention.

I hope that if it is, it doesn't progress past the numbness and resolves quickly

Oh I've started waking up with a numb hand too - been sleeping on my side for months tho. I have been getting swollen hands lately (nothing else tho - feet etc are fine). I was taking some gentle tissue salts for the fluid retention but they don't seem to be cutting it anymore ....might have to step up to dandelion tea or something stronger.......
Does it go away after the birth?
