    argh HELP!!

Last night I had a shower and noticed the hot water wasn't very hot. This morning no hot water, so at around 11am I checked the fuse box, and the clipsal switch for the hot water was off, so I turned it back on.

It's still on now but there is no hot water still!!

Any ideas? I can't ring the real estate till tomorrow morning

it is probably on an off peak - so it wont heat up until over night tonight so you have hot water in the morning.

if there isnt hot water then get your supplier to check - cause if it is an issue on their part and the RE get out an Electrician to check the system then they will send you the bill!

I'm pretty sure is isn't off peak, I've had showers at midnight before without a problem.

It went off last night and it's been 24 hours without hot water?

I thought the fuse but it's a new box and I can't even see the fuses, don't really want to go playing with it when I haven't a clue what I'm doing.

I would still wait until morning to see if it is hot.
i only say this as it happened to us 3 weeks ago.

you can actually call your supplier and ask when the hot water heats up.

otherwise your thermostat might be on the blink - you can go to the system itself and check the thermostat is at the highest

since it set the fuse box switch off- I dare say that the element is blown or something else is wrong with it- so you will probably have to call the real estate. Bugger! looks like you'll be boiling the kettle for a bath!

people seem to think it's the element or something in the HWC has blown, so ill just have to sponge bath tonight and go in tomorrow morning when I pay the rent and get someone out ASAP. I can not go without hot water!

ETA: yes that's the general opinion, if it set off the clipsal switch then somethings blown Glad im not paying for it!

If you only reset it this morning - it won't heat up till tonight. Most hot water systems heat up overnight but keep the (already heated) water hot all day/night IYKWIM. We had a prob with ours that the system kept missing the "heat up" signal that is sent down the line (I have no idea how it works) so had to have it switched to "constant heating" or something. Hope it heats up tonight!

From my understanding, hot water is something that is seen as an emergency so should be attended to within 24hrs of you letting your real estate know.
It definitely sounds like there is a fault somewhere within your water system that is tripping out the safety switch.
I hope you get a nice, warm shower real soon

My mums used to always stop working and it was the thermostat. And yes no hot water is classed as an emergency with real estates so i would get straight onto them!
