I know at least 1 person here would have to have tried to use them together, so what do you do? Do you put the strings inside the cup or do you not use a cup at all? Or do you put the strings outside the cup (but wouldn't that break the seal)?
I used my cup once after Mirena was put in. After removing it (very carefully in the shower) i had the same cramps as when itwas put in (it was 3 week later) and realised that the suction had exerted a pull on it. Worried about removing it entirely i stopped using the cup. Within 3 months AF was so light i didn't need the cup anyway, it was just a bit of brownish spotting.
If you do decide to use it i would suggest you don't wear it high up (i HAVE to put mine over my cervix because i'm very short internally) and when you remove it you grip the bottom of the cup, pinch it a little and tilt the cup until a part of the rim comes out, to break the suction rather than pullin the stem and "popping" the rim out all at once. That will minimise the suction on your cervix. My strings came out of the os and curled up and back so i never got them tangled with the cup. They were inside it purely because they were laid flat against my cervix and my cervix was inside it.
