Currently ds's grandma is knitting his wool soakers. I've read on how to wash and care for them, but I need to know ... if I use wool soakers AND Fleece longies (not together, but you know) how many covers do I need?? I bought 4 x 50g balls of wool ... and I HOPE it will give me three panty-soakers (for lack of better vocab atm) and I have A LOT of fleece that I can make little yoga-pant longies from. If I make 5, would that be enough?? Three wool soakers (mostly for night time) and 5 longies for daytime wear??
Do you have to wash the fleece pants everytime you turn a diaper, or do you just air them out like the wool ones? That does not sound right airing out fleece .... In that case 5 would probably not be enough for two days (I'm going to wash every second day ... for now)
I got three wool soakers from the wool I bought. Is that enough? How many fleece covers do I need. I have NO PUL nappies, only fitted and pocket nappies
I don't have any knitted woolies just BBH wool cover so can't help too much on specifics with wool but will let you know what I do with covers. I have AIO's as well as Fitteds & Covers but I have 4 covers in each size. In my case 2 PUL and 2 Fleece or Wool Covers (for naps and nights) and I find it is plenty as I wash every day or 2. You only need to air out the covers between changes (unless there is poo on the cover in which case obviously needs washing first) so you only really need to use 2 covers each day in most instances. (I could buy more, but I don't need them).
If you are only going to be washing every day I'd get 4 (2 in wash or drying) if washing every second day I'd get 6 covers (since 4 will be in the wash or drying). If you are exclusively using fitteds with covers (so don't have any AIO's or anything as backup) you will probably want an extra 2 in case of poo-plosions or washing dramas, so 8. Having said that, I wash my PUL's and fleece's every day, but since you sound like you're mainly talking woolies and you only wash woolies when they stink or have poo on them, you could probably get away with even less. HTH. So yeah, I think you'll have PLENTY.
Thanks sas Yes that is helpfull, thank you very much. I'm going to knit another wool one for nights (and knit some babylegs to go with that) and make 6 fleece longies covers (just to be safe ) then I'll probably be set. My diapers have polarfleece outers so then I have double fleece as a cover. I know I'll probably get some compression wicking, BUT ds get changed often, so I doubt it would become a problem. I'm just so over buying sposie right now.
