    Pain in chest

DS14 has a throat infection, I took him to GP yesterday who said he had some puss on his tonsil and put him on antibiotics. He has also had a cough and runny nose. He just told me his chest hurts when he breathes, just a bit worried. Anyone have any ideas. Yesterday his chest was all clear. Might give nurse on call a ring.

    Regards,
    Dianne

Is he having any trouble breathing?

Sometimes when they cough a lot they can pull a chest muscle, and this might give them some pain.

Depending on the type of infection, if he has a cough, he might have a chest infection and be getting some pleuritic pain, which is pain from the inflamed lining of the lung rubbing against the chest wall when he breathes.

If he has any trouble breathing, or the pain gets any worse, I'd take him to your GP or local hospital to be checked out.

I'm with Schmick, the times I've had chest pain (don't google, it'll tell you it's a blood clot, apparently that's the cause of every chest pain in the world), it's been a pulled muscle or bronchitis.
So worth getting checked out, in case it's the latter.
Maybe take him to the doc the time of day the cough is worst? Often I find early morning and later in the day my cough will be bad, with mucous moving about, and midday/afternoon my chest sounds fine and I get sent home by doctors. Really strange. That's my unmedical, but based on my experience advice. Take with a grain of salt.
