Q for people that have had OHSS

    hey

just wondering what your E2 levels where before trigger?

my levels yesterday were 28976 and fs said i wasnt allowed to have trigger or epu cos its getting cancelled due OHSS

he said if they were 25000 he would of done epu and a freeze all, i was only 3000 over do my levels seem high? i mean high enough to be cancelled? i am just worried that my fs is being FAR to cautious, my first cycle cancelled cos we didnt respond well enough, now my second cycle is cancelled cos of OHSS, when is he going to get it right

I'm so sorry you got cancelled - it's so frustrating to go through all that for nothing!
Trust me, you do NOT want to get OHSS. I don't know what my levels where before trigger, but they were below the cutoff for cancelling and I still got hyperstimulated and ended up in hospital for a few days.
It's really hard to find the right balance between enough and not too much stimulation - unfortunately that means sometimes we end up with a couple of practice runs.
Hopefully next time they can get it right.
    Good luck.

M2C, again, I am so sorry about how this cycle turned out...I don't know how high E2 reach to classify OHSS but my first cycle I was on put on 2L of water a day to keep OHSS at bay because my E2 before trigger is 21,000, appearantly that was high.

I guess all the IVF runs are trial and error, although frustrating, it does take a few rounds to get it right. I guess at least your FS is responsible and conciously trying to avoid OHSS because you certainly don't want to end up in hospital...

Take care hun, drink lots of water and I hope soon the pain will go away...

Hi M2C, so sorry to hear you cycle has been cancelled . Whilst I have never had OHSS as such, my first stim cycle (FSH dose was 225) was cancelled as my E2 at day 8 of stims was 22,000 will 20+ follies, my second cycles (FSH dose 125) my E2 levels at trigger were 25,000 with 20+ follies, we went to EPU, but I have to be very honest and say that I think my embies were severly effected by the high E2 levels, all embies were very slow growing and moderately to more fragmented. I did a freeze all, did 3 x FET day 3 transfers (embies were 5-6 cell), and out of 15 embies that fertlised I ended up with only 5 that thawed well over the 3 transfers.

I know you are so dissapointed, but I do believe that your E2 levels have a big impact on your embie quality (as well as the risk for OHSS), and with the money and the emotional investment you put in, it is worth ensuring you have the best embies possible. I did finally work out a perfect FSH dose of 100, which gave me around 12-15 mature eggs, and nice E2 levels at trigger (about 12500), so it is just a matter of manipulating your FSH dose.

Praying it works out for you soon, xx
