I really hope that someone can provide some assistance with my current cycle length. I am completely at a loss about what my body is doing and I getting very frustrated. Maybe someone has been through a similar thing?
I had a D&C in April after losing my son and having some RPOC after the birth. I bled for 5 weeks after the birth and ended up being anaemic (i'm still taking iron tablets). I got AF 17 days after the D&C and haven't had a period since.
I have been having regular AP and taking chinese herbs and my very experienced TCM is working hard to try to get my body to cooperate, but it's not working.
I was charting at the beginning of the cycle and did appear that I O'd on CD10 but b/t a few weeks later showed progesterone at less 0.4 which means I definitely did not ovulate. I have had some hot flashes on and off but herbs are mainly controlling this. My body is trying really hard to fix itself. For the last 6 weeks or so I have had good quality EWCM for 2 or 3 days on a regular basis - almost weekly. I have done an OPK but negative. I get twinges and pains, mostly uterus rather than ovaries, occasional sore BBS, and I get moody but no AF arrives.
Should I go and see my GP? Is there anything that can be done? I have heard about a progesterone injection. Does anyone have any experience with this? Should I go and get an u/s to find out what's going on? I have complete faith in my TCM as she is the reason we fell pg last year but I am not sure I can wait much longer. I am going on an overseas holiday in 2 weeks and would really like to have this sorted out before then.
If anyone has any ideas I would be truly grateful. Thanks in advance.
Cheryl
I am not sure about such a long cycle but I do remember another member in the Older Women's thread who had something very similar with a large gap between cycles after a M/C. Hers did eventually come back but it was over 100 days (sorry). She did recently have a child though!
Why not just consult with your GP or FS (phone consult as you are going away?) and see if they have any ideas on how to kick start your hormones again. Have you had your HCG tested? It may still be there in low levels which may be keeping AF away.
At least your herbs are giving you a good chance of getting things back on the right track.
Have a wonderful trip and I hope you get some answers and AF very very soon.
I have had more b/t and an ultrasound today. I am seeing my GP tomorrow for the results. The u/s looked normal with a nice healthy 18mm follie on the right side and some smaller ones of the left. Lining was only 4 to 5mm though, which might be a bit thin? So physically all looks fine initially anyway. Now waiting on the b/t results.
My chiro has also done some work to try to stimulate my pituatary gland and ovaries and has given me a Selenium supplement which apparently will help with ovulation and regular cycles. The tests he did showed I am deficient in Selenium. I'll take it for the next few days and he's going to check me again on Monday.
My GP thinks it is stress that is causing the long cycle, not menopause or peri-menopause. Keep your fingers crossed for me for tomorrow. Thanks for replying to me and thanks also for the good news that the lady you know has just had a baby after a 100 day cycle! It keeps me hopeful
Just in case anyone is interested, my ultrasound showed everything was normal. B/t showed levels appropriate to the follicular phase so all is looking good for ovulation in about a week or so Apparently stress can often cause this after a late miscarriage, so hopefully I will be back on track very soon!
