Ugh I feel like I only ever pop in here to complain to you guys about my MCN......Im sure its not the nappy's fault tho....I just dont seem to be able to get my head around it lol
First I think the biggest problem is I used sposies for too long so now Im tending to expect the same results with MCN. Seriously how long should I be able to get between an average change?? So often Josh is waking up from his nap with waist or leg leak and needing a clothes change. His naps are so random in when he has them and for how long that Im changing him every hour just in case he nods off for a big sleep!! Is that normal???
For alot of his leg leaks Im wondering if the cause is because I use crotch snapping singlets or onesies....do others find this a problem??? Im planning to buy some non-snapping singlets on the weekend to try, but they ride up soooo much!! So I figured I would see what you guys find works first
And if I havent been a big enough pain in the bum already I thought I might go thru some of my main nappies to see if maybe you guys can spot a problem I have missed...
* Trifold & Bummis cover......4 hours with no leaks
* CT.....leg leak after an hour (sometimes waist leak too)
* Bubblebubs side snap.....huge waist leak after hour n half
* PopIn.....3 n half hours no leak (love my pop in lol)
* Blueberry....2 hours leg leak
* Cushie & MAZ cover.....3 hours no leak
* BBH AIO.....half hour n waist leak
* Ecobub....hour n half slight leg leak
Each of the times theres been a leak Ive found it as soon as he has woken up. If two hours for most nappies is considered normal then atleast I know its not me doing something wrong lol
Ok I feel like Im rambling now...thank you so much if you got thru the whole post....and thank you even more if you have some advice for me!!! I really dont want this to get the better of me and go back to sposies....plus Im already getting the "I told you so" response from DH and friends!!!

: bad spelling
I expect about 2hrs between changes, 3 MAX. I'm sorry I have kids giving me the absolutely willies so I don't have time to reply more but maybe some are just better fits than others?? I don't use onesies since using cloth, having them so tight over the nappy covers might make them dampish but shouldn't make them wet?
sounds to me like a heavey wetter ? some nappies arent just absorbent enough for big wee'ers .
fwiw my DD is not a big wetter but has leaks in a bubble bubs too . so i dont use them anymore .
cushie tushies IMO are not really absorbent and arent the best fit on my DD so maybe the fit isnt right ?
the BBH and ECO bubs are both predominatley microfibre . i think its sounds like its not absorbent enough .
seeing as you are getting good results from a cushie (is that the fitted bamboo?) and a cover , maybe fitteds are the way to go for you ?
my DS was a fitteds boy - he out wet AIO's and was sopping in no time , i stuck him in a BBH and cover and its was fine
try doing a stip wash them whack them in the dryer , maybe the PUL is not preforming at its best and there may be some build up , even if they are newish ...
dont listen to DH and the "i told you so's " its a steep learning curve and it takes a while to master whats right for bub and you !
I don't think it is anything you are doing, I think it is the nappies. Unfortunatly there are so many to choose from and as said before not everything works for everyone which is a big pain as they can be quiet expensive to not work.
I have always used crotch buttoning suits, still do everyday with my DD, I personally do not think this would be the problem, no harm trying normal singlets but don't spend to much money on them.
I usually get 3-4 hours out of my preferred nappies, some others I have are either not suited to DD or just plain bad can last as little as 45 mins.
I will give you an idea of how your nappies go on my DD (the ones I have anyway):
CT, about 45mins on my DD before leaking from either leg/top or both.
Bubblebubs, I only have one and it seems quiet good, 3-4 hours.
Pop In, the best nappy around! 4 hours plus, never leaked.
BBH AIO, 1 - 2 hours max.
Ecobub Wool, 3 and a half hours.
Ecobub PVC, 2 hours then sometimes leaks.
Is it possible that some of the waist leaks could be the result of have a boy? I am not sure as I have a girl, but I know they would wee in different parts of the nappy. Maybe try using a mini bamboo booster right where he wees?
Is the whole nappy wet and therefore he is running out of absobant materials to hold the wee or is most of the nappy dry but still leaking from the leg/top?
I am sorry you are getting the 'I told you so's' how annoying .
Maybe sell at the bad ones and get Pop Ins instead .
I hope you get there soon.

Okies - my experience with the ones you have listed:
CT - pretty - but dont work for us, we get leg gape and leaks after an hour - have just put them in the for the great nappy swap because of this!
Pop-ins - no leaks so far
Ecobubs - because of the micro only - my boy has started to leak through after 60 - 90 mins, especially if laying down - I have a GK bamboo booster that I lay between the micro layers, and a little bit more bulky (not much) but is now working like a charm!
I use crotch snapping bodysuits - no diff here ...
I would suspect that perhaps it might be either that he is a heavy wetter (for the ecobubs anyway - which is weird cos Aricyn is a heavy wetter and we get a good amount of time out of just the microfibre insert) OR - your bubs suits narrow crotch nappies, not wide ones.
All the ones mentioned that leak for you are pretty wide.
Thank you all sooooo much for taking the time to reply!!!
Its a huge help reading about what works and what doesnt for everyone else. Since I refuse to give up yet and I dont have money left for more nappies til our tax return comes in.....Im studying my nappies real hard now lol. Just really paying attention to how each nappy fits (or doesnt fit) and mixing around some boosters to see if I can find combos that will work better!
Charmalea...yea the Cushie is the fitted bamboo. Originally I wasnt too keen on the fitted and cover idea....but Im definately learning to love them now lol
Daintree....yea I was thinking if maybe being a boy had to do with the waist leak too...especially if he is a heavy wetter...so maybe I need more front boosting (poor kid already gets bagged out for a "huge package" lol) Most of the time the nappy is not totally saturated, the back section is still pretty dry.
SamiH....Im so glad you mentioned that about the Ecobubs....I actually ordered a spare GK booster the other day for that exact reason and was just praying it would help lol.....love my Ecobubs too much to part with lol
Arimeh....I was wondering if he classed as a narrow-crotch suited bub....he is still quite long n skinny with no butt to him at all (lol poor kid took after his father!!) Especially with CT, I was looking at them on him thinking if only he had some chunck to him this might seal better!
Another thing I noticed with the CT this morning is he seems to be inbetween snap sizes now (didnt have that trouble on the weekend lol) and there doesnt seem to be enough stretch to force the snaps closed at the same level on each side.....hello huge gap!!! So now Im wondering that would probably be pretty normal huh...that a nappy would go thru phases of fitting and not fitting as bub changes...hmm finding straws to cing to cos Im just not ready to part with all my cute fluff lol
Anyway Im rambling again sorry ladies.....and again thank you so much for all the advice! I WILL make this work lol
