    Melbourne Removalists

    Hi

I'm looking for a recommendation for a professional moving company for a move from one of the South Eastern suburbs to a Bayside suburb. We are interested in full packing service but not unpacking. To be honest, reliability is more important than price - not that we want to be ripped off, but we are happy to pay for excellent service & peace of mind IYKWIM.

The only service I am aware of is from a radio ad - and they are called "White Glove Movers" - I am sure there are others...Please let me know your good and bad experiences...if you are more comfortable sending a PM, please do!

    Thanks!
    Julie

Hmm we have used Allied in the past (hubbies work paid) and I wouldn't recommend them. We had paintings/pictures damaged due to wrong packaging. Also, we started off with two young guys (mid 20s) who, upon realising (in my opinion) it was only me at home supervising (mid 20's), called in about 6 other packer mates and then took til about 8pm to pack a tiny three bedroom house (when the quote we'd been given was only about 4-6 hours). And they left one or two kitchen cupboards full and the backyard stuff they also forgot. This was in SA. Melbourne Allied might be a bit better but I woudln't use them again...

Thanks for your reply. That sounds pretty bad - and stressful!

I'm curious - didn't they have to stick to their original quote though - I thought that's the whole point of the quote and agreeing to move forward?

We used Grace Removals and they were really good. We moved from Melbourne to Brisbane, but I know they do local removals too. They also offer the whole "pack-up-your-stuff" service. You can pretty much specify exactly how much you want them involved in your move. As with all removals, I would strongly reccommend comprehansive insurance. Our couch got a 3 cm scratch in transit and they replaced the entire suite to the value of $4k. They aren't the cheapest, but they are reliable.

We moved in melbourne, first used 'interstate taxi' and the secondly 'the moving professionals' who destroyed our property, so I dont have any reccommendations unfortunately, only who to stay away from
Best of luck with your move*

Thanks so much. I have contact Grace for a quote as well as 1 other company and am waiting to hear back from a third.

It's good to know who to avoid as well!
