    FTB as a lump sum

we are going to qualify for FTB A for the 08-09 financial year, we didnt recive it as fortnightly payments as I didnt think we'd qualify so never applied.

Do I have to apply for it, or will it happen automatically once both our tax returns are processed?

Hm.. i think it all depends on whether you are a current customer or not.. if you are current and have opted for nil payments, then you'd get it automatically once your tax returns are done. if you had a cancelled payment, you'd have to lodge a lump sum claim after you've done your tax.

    hope this helps!

mareegirl is correct. If you are being assessed for FTB but had elected for a nil rate then the FTB will be automatically assessed once all tax return information has been received by the FAO. If you were not being assessed for FTB (i.e your ftb was cancelled) in the 08/09 financial year then you will need to lodge a lump sum claim.

How did you start getting FTB for 09/10? Did you need to complete some information (either over the internet or over the phone) and then return some forms and other information or did you just have to call and say that you wanted payments fortnightly? This will help determine how your FTB is set up.

from what we chatted about on MSN i think you'll find the time from DS2's birth through til June 30 will be paid automatically, as you became current but at nil rate at that time. the time before that date, you'll need to do a lump sum application for. i believe you can download and print the form - go to the Centrelink website and type in FA048 (with a zero, not an O) and it will be the form that you need to lodge. if you're registered for online services, they MIGHT have updated to allow you to do the lump sum claim online but i'm honestly not sure.
