    Question Recurring Cough

Since Blue was 4 months he's had 2 bouts of croup (one hossy job) and a bout of bronchialitis which they gave him ab's for and he finished them about a week or so ago...

The cough persisted for a while but then buggered off...

Saturday night it came back complete with runny nose.....

It's a really phlegmy, chesty cough that is so violent he gets his whole body in on the action - but other than that he's perfectly happy and still feeding really well.

    Should I be worried?

poor little mite...have you taken him to the doctor for this current cough yet? if its a once and you have seen the doctor i might not worry so much, but because its reoccurring (spelling) i would tend to worry

    Hi RFM08
no I haven't taken him to the doc yet for this one as it only started Sat night.
He isn't grumpy or anything like that and as he only finished ab's a week ago I wasn't sure if they will even do anything ...

poor lil man. I would be taking him to the doc. That seems to be alot for a baby to be sick that often.

Dee we too have had a shocking time the last few months. It has been cough after cough for 5 months now. Our babies are so little, their immune system is just developing, it is pretty normal that they will catch lots of coughs and colds. Lu has been sick for 3 weeks, on ABs for a chest infection and now has a nasty chesty cough like you describe. If he is otherwise happy i'd ride it out. But, as always if you are concerned you should go to the drs.

Sas has had a chesty cough since she was born, she has it even if she doesn't have a cold. So i got a referral to a paed and i'm taking her on Friday. Perhaps if you are concerned you could do the same..

All this coughing is driving me up the wall! Hope Blue's is better soon.

Thanks Ange - I know what you mean it's just constant...

I've just called the doc to take him this morning as I am a bit worried....if it wasn't for everything else he's had I would ride it out but it's just so violent - his whole body goes rigid and his little head gets so red....

I hope Sas and Lu feel better soon xoxox

this is what I am scared of - because he has been so sick he hasn't had his 4month vacc's yet - every time we go to take him he's coming down with something again

dont feel bad about the vacc's. If its whooping cough, chances are he was gonna catch it anyway.

Well good news is the doc isn't too worried - told us to give him ventolin via a spacer and if he's not better in a couple of days to bring him back and then it's back on the predmix...
Bad news is I got my bum whipped for not using my preventer ...oh well...

Yep that'd help - I've been on ventolin, bricanyl, seretide for years....
I have allergy and season related asthma

Basically need to move somewhere warm and dry - maybe with a beach and some palm trees...LOL
Bit of trivia - Melbourne is the worse place in Australia for an asthmatic to live as it is the meeting points for 4 winds and therefore is just a big melting pot of pollens etc...
