We just found out recently that DSD17 left school at the beginning of the year and has been working part time and doing a certificate IV course. However, she works 3 days per week and earns around $600 per fortnight (we tried to estimate). She has also told DH that she needs to work this much because her mother does not support her. We know from DSD19 that her mother used to give her $15 per week + pay her board at friends house, while collecting CS and Youth Allowance for her (and not passing it on).
So the question I have is, can CS be reduced because DSD is earning her own income? It's really frustrating because we know for a fact that DSD is not being financially supported, even though DH pays 89% of the cost for 3 teenage children.
If anyone has experience in this, your feedback would be greatly appreciated...
Yanno, working part time, studying part time is not such a bad life really - if she has left school she should be supporting herself .
And the YAL does not have to be passed on to the child at all, if the mother is paying the childs board or whatever it's up to her.
However, now she has left school the mother might not be receiving YAL anyway.
ETA - and at this age I would imagine you could probably give any financial support directly to the child and bypass the mother altogether (if she isn't living there) ?
