Ob just gave me them yesterday and took my first one an hour ago (4mg wafer) and feeling fairly normal. I am drinking water so that is a good sign.
just had a question about how you get it on the PBS scheme thingo. the pharmacist said this morning to get the ob to request 4 in a pack (instead of 10) and then it will be covered? I paid $85 for 10.
Just wondering if anyone else has had them and were able to get them cheaper??
The ob can fill in a TGA (therapeutic Goods Administration) exemption/special exemption form on the basis you have hyperemesis gravidum...then you should be able to get it at pbs prices.....
when I used it during my pregnancy, it wasnt available on authority unless you had cancer! its great that you can get t now! I think I paid abround 30-40 dollars for 4 wafers, cant remember the strength...but i only took half a day to make them last longer.
I tried at the start of the pg & had no luck at all. The pharmacist was no help at all & the doc wasnt either....sorry that prob hasn't helped. Goodluck.
I have lived on these during pregnancy and had no idea about the PBS thingy, wish I knew before now!!! I paid about $90 for the 10 wafers. A script for 4 might be okay if you arent using that many.... I had to take 3 per day. There could be a delay in how many days inbetween filling scripts at the chemist. I think I was told they could be cheaper only for patients with cancer too. Let us know how you get on with that!
I hope they work well for you and you start to feel much better soon
It is not an authority script...you actually have to apply for an exemption...it is a special form that the doctor has to send away to the TGA for approval...not like an over the phone authority script. It is quite involved and many doctors probably wouldnt know about it but it can be done......
I think the technical term is Special Access Scheme if you want some words to throw at him...lol
Hi I was also on these for 20 weeks, the only way to get them cheaper is if you have health insurance, you can claim the cost after $35 dollars, but I found if I filled my script at the hospital they would give me 8 tablets for $40 dollars and my pharmacie would be $90 for 8 tablets. they were a life saver so I payed what ever to have them!
