    9month old with mouth ulcers

    Hi all

DD has finally got 2 teeth coming through at the botton of her mouth but I have also noticed a big ulcer on her inner bottom lip. It had gone the next day but then she had ulcers on her toungue and then on her inner upper lip.

Do u think these are teething related or something else. The same time as the teeth came through she also seemed to get a crackely voice.

could it be hand, foot and mouth?

oh sorry - it is a v common childhood virus - it has cold like symptoms and also ulcers in the mouth and blisters on hands and feet... they dont always get them on hands and feet i think...
my ds has had it and so have most of the other kids i know at some pt - it is quite contagious...
does she have cold symptoms (i thoguht of this bc of the voice?)?
i havent ever seen ulcers bc of teething but others may have...
if it is hand foot and mouth they say just panadol for temp and wait it out

When my DD had hand foot and mouth it was ulcers in the mouth and nowhere else. Luckily it's harmless, but it gave me the shock of my life (she had about 50 ulcers in her mouth). Lots of drinks, my DD was 3 but only drank for a week, couldnt' eat as it was quite painful as you can imagine.... So with bubs just make sure lots of milk and water. Also maybe get GP for reassurance. xo

oh! thanks all. She doesn't have ulcers on her hands or feet but what you guys say make sense. I am going to GP this PM so will see what he says. I have no idea how she got it as she doesn't play with any other kids yet and is with me all the time!

She has been randomly coughing and sneezing but I don't think that has anything to do with it...I will check anyway.

Can adults get the virus but not have a heap of ulcers? Because my sister came over and she had 3 ulcers in her mouth? I think DD then got sick about 3-5days after that...

We went to the GP and he didnt think it was the above. He seemed to think its just a general virus. Either way there is nothing they can do so just heaps of fluids, panadol etc

    Thanks for all your advice
