Question Does anyone know how to pipe icing flowers?

Hmmm title really covers it ...

I have been trying to learn how to make sugar flowers out of royal icing and I am failing dismally.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks?

Well I am puzzled about piping them with royal icing as that is too runny I would imagine? But I can only pipe flowers with buttercream and I use particular icing tips (if you google Wilton you should come across the US Wilton site where they show you the tips you use for all flowers and leaves, stems etc) with my icing bag. I can't figure how it could be done with a normal icing nozzle. Sorry not actually any help really!

I have a set of 28 metal ones in a case and a little instruction card that gives me the tip number for the type of flower that I want. Could you try buttercream icing instead?
