Question Qld holiday ... what do you recommend to do with 3year old there ??

    Hi all,

DP and i with our active & bubbly 3 year old DD are coming to Qld for a holiday from 9th to 18th Sept (next mth) staying in Maroochydore, we will have hired car so can travel

When i've travelled to Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast in the past i was a single gal without child so now i need some recommendations on where you all recommend to take a 3 year old child

I'm not sure if we will do ' both ' Seaworld and Dreamworld ... so if you had to choose between the two which would you choose for a child of our DD's age ??

Also i'm pretty sure we will go to Australia Zoo (last time i went it was still being added/renovated) ... My DD will be 3 & 4mths old by then and tickets are Free for kids under 3, ... What do you think our chances are in getting her in for Free as an under 3 year old ?? ... She could kind of look younger ... Well, as long as no one asks her age we might be ok as she is chatty and would answer if asked by staff, LOL

So, please do advice me of other activities or places of interest to go to with her

Oh, also any suggestions of places to eat for lunch and dinner would be super too !!!

Thanks heaps & i look forward to hearing your suggestions

Cheers from Lorelle, Adam & Cendrine (Miss C) xox

I think as long as there is a park nearby your little one won't get too bored . Australia Zoo is awesome for little ones, and there is an amazing park that you will have to drive past to get there, its all enclosed and amazing.... it will be on your right hand side on Steve Irwin Drive...

Dreamworld has WigglesWorld... but SeaWorld has Seseme Street stuff..... they both have areas dedicated to toddler/preschool ages. I think you should choose by what you want to do. She will be happy with all the excitement anyway. I'm not sure about SeaWorld, but Dreamworld even has a room where you can go and sit like an indoor playcentre just for toddlers/younger kids. We took DD1 there for her 3rd birthday and it was perfect for her age.

We loved holidays when DD was 3 because as long as we gave her an hour in a park on those days, she was happy and got what she wanted. Trips to the beach are perfect, most places around there will sell buckets and kids beach stuff if you forget to pack it. September is nearly perfect beach weather up there!

    sunshine coast
    *Underwater world is at mooloolaba
    *The ginger factory - buderim
    *The Big Pineapple
*Aussie World / Ettamogah Pub - on the highway, just south of sunshine coast
    *Obviously, Australia Zoo
*Maleny / Montville - sunshine coast hinterland

    Brisbane
    *Southbank - incl. museums etc
*Mt cootha botanic gardens and planetarium - we take bread to feed the ducks in the gardens, the kids love it.
*Mt cootha look out - go to the top, there's cafes, great to have an icecream and look around
*boat ride on the river cat in the city

    Gold Coast
*i'd choose seaworld over all the others for a 3 yo, sesame street beach is great
*surfers paradise - there's an 'aquaduck' tour which is fun for the kids, you'll find brochures etc all over surfers paradise
*cheap - monorail from the casino around the shops, costs like $2 and the kids love it

that's about all i can think of at the moment, that we've actually done, hope they help!
    Have a great trip xoxo

Above are some great ideas! I was going to suggest Aussie World, it's closer to where you will be...great for kids & much cheaper to get into than the others. We are yet to get to the zoo, put that on the list for sure. The beach, free & simple....kids love it. We stayed up there last Christmas & rode to the beach everyday, took up the morning well & then DS had a great arvo nap.
And don't forget about yourselve's, kids don't need a lot of money spent to have a good time.....just a park & change of scenery & they love it. Ahhhh help me out, what are the name of the markets up there???? they are awesome also!

    Hi Lorelle

Dreamworld had a lot more stuff than Seaworld last time I was there but that was a few years ago.

There's heaps of Markets, Zoos & tourist attractions that would be suitable for a 3 yr old
