    Books on BLS??

    Hello,

I am reading all your threads and they are great. I am really interested in doing this, it just makes sense to me and feels right so I would like to read up some more info before I begin.

DD has just started to be interested in what I am putting in my mouth, not ready to pull it into her mouth, just noticing that I am doign something different - so I still have a bit of time up my sleeve

So do you have any book recommendations?

    TIA

There is not much out there yet unfortunatly.
I did most of my research on the internet and watched a DVD that the council had.

The ABA has a great booklet apparently, but i havent seen it
    Good luck

There is a book and dvd called Baby led weaning. They aren't cheap however you can get them through the ABA's mothers direct site or borrow them from your local ABA group if they have them. The ABA's booklet on solids talks about it but not strictly as BLS more finger foods but its the same idea!

I came across a few articles in magazines, found heaps of info on here and did searches via U tube for videos of BLS. This is what convinced my dp to give it a go with DS and we have not looked back, it shows real babies having real food for the first time, it's the best thing to overcome the fear of choking. My sister still freaks at my now 17 mnth old eating cuecumber.

It isn't strictly BLS, but the ABA has a great booklet 'Introducing Solids' that talks about introducing family foods. If you don't mash/puree it pretty much gives some good tips on approaching solids.

There's also some good advice on kellymom about BLS and when/how to introduce. My DD didn't take to solids for about a month. I started her just over six months.
