Please i really need your advice

    hi all ,
i am having a really tough time right now and i need some advice/ reassurance
my boy who is not quite 3 and a half has had a run of extremely worrying moments lately
but i will start with the lastest
this morning he woke up unable to walk he simply will not weight bear at all on his right leg he says he knee hurts though he will crawl around the floor on his knees so he doesn't have to walk when you stand him up he just falls down
there is no swelling no redness no heat he has no temp though he does have a snotty nose and a cough my Dh took him to the Dr who has ordered xrays and bloods for tomorrow ( bloody stupid public holidays) by late this afternoon he was saying it was his foot not his knee but still when i try to stand him up he falls
a week ago he dislocated his elbow by hitting it on the edge of a slippery dip
the dr's could n't figure out what was wrong at first until the xray was done and it popped back in and he stopped screaming
2 weeks before that he had a virus of some discription which stated out as 2 days of high temps then 2 days of vomiting then extreme screaming which got us sent for ultra sounds showing a stomach so full of gas they couldn't even see his organs then from that night 2 days of extreme diareaha (sp)
so could any of this be related have you seen any thing like this i made the mistake of googling please any advice or god just calm me down right now would be good TIA

Oh my! I don't really think I have any advice, but I wanted to give you big, big hugs. What a terrible few weeks.

Googling often causes more angst than its worth, I reckon. I can't tell you how many times I have googled things and completely FREAKED myself out, only to have it be nothing. I am sure it will be the same with your son.

Its good the dr has ordered tests, but I suppose I would be reassured that he didn't send your son straight into hospital for tests- if the dr was really worried, he would have done that, public holiday or not.

I could be completely off base, but the first thing I thought when I read your post was "growing pains"- I've heard they can cause real pain, especially in the legs, and they are very real. Not sure if this is what could be wrong, but it just came to mind for me.

Please keep us updated. Thinking of you.

Sorry I have no advice for you but I couldn't read your post and not at least give you some hugs you sound really worried. I would be talking to your Dr about it all and trying to find an answer.

it could be viral arthritis. I had this.. its really odd. It does pass tho, it just affects your joints mainly. Mayb look it up and see what u think? also.. mayb it could be growing pains????? could he have been bitten by something???

first suggestion no more googling I don't really have any advice but wanted to send you lot's of I would suggest definitely seeing multiple drs for either answers or reassurance as those symptoms are a bit of a worry when you add them together but it could be coincidence, unrelated and just bad luck

I just wanted to say good luck and good on you for following everything up.
I do not want to try to post any 'advice' as I do not want you to have even more going through your head!
    STOP GOOGLING though!!!!!

My DD is complaining of pain in one of her legs at the moment and we are going to take her to the doctors wednesday in the hope of getting some bloods or x-rays or something done.

My fingers are crossed that all the tests come back alright - I know it might be nice to find an answer but i hope that nothing serious shows up, I am sure it won't though!!
    Keep us posted

I think it's worth following up as well. Sometimes children can get inflammation of the joints following a viral infection, or sometimes they can get an infection in the join itself, or in the bone, which is more serious.
