    Tell me about IRONS

I hate ironing. My Mum does it for me LOL!

Now that I'm moving into my own home, I need to buy an iron.

So tell me - what is good, what is bad, what is fabulous....

(the easier for me to use, the better!)

DH does most of the ironing here... well at least his business shirt every day. He's been very happy with the Philips Azure iron we bought about 7 years ago. It replaced a Kenwood which was also ok. Get the top of the range Azure, the one with the highest wattage I think.... something like that... someone else will know.

Stay away from Teflon bases.... yeuch! Go for stainless steel or something that won't scratch off.

Iron, hmmmmm Iron.....I've heard that word used before, just not sure what it means

I'm sorry I couldn't help myself, I'd just be dropping off at your Mum's after you move out...you don't want her missing you too much.

Go for one with auto switch off if you forget to turn it off and one that can take tap water. Have a Braun here, which I am fairly happy with. If I had the money I would get a Laura Star set-up.

if you don't need to use it heaps, we have three hear that haven't been used in ages - when you come down for the other stuff, you're welcome to take one of them!

any clothes that need ironing go to mum's - or we start a basket and when it's full, pay to have it done!

Would it be worth it to get one of those steam numbers? It's upright and you hang the clothes up and do it that way...saw it in the middle of the shopping centre awhile back.

I can second staying away from the teflon coated ones.

It has ruined clothes of ours. I bought a kenwood one and all this stuff got caked on the bottom of the iron and I cant for the life of me get it off. I found that the teflon if it got to hot, the iron wouldnt glide over the shirts, it would stick to them grrrrrr!!!
