Where do you keep your cakes?

    Fridge or cupboard?

They're much better when not kept in the fridge I think but there's only 2 of us to eat it so I end up putting it in the fridge.

I also wonder about the icing. If it has milk in it then isn't it weird not to refrigerate it?

If it has cream in the middle, then def in the fridge... a normal say choccie cake with just icing (with water) we leave covered on the bench... but then again, they are lucky to last a day or two...

I usually keep them in a container on the bench and they never seem to last longer than 1 day in this house anyway lol. But it depends on the cake too - anything with cream goes in the fridge obviously, but fruit cake is best stored in the cupboard.

I only make mudcakes at this stage so I keep mine in the fridge so the ganache icing doesn't get too melty. I add baileys to the ganache so it doesn't set as well and goes super soft and can ooze a bit.

When I make cupcakes out of the same recipe and take them to work They usually si ton the bench wrapped but never last more than one day

I'm not really a cake person. So the only times i have cake is at birthdays and then its usually all gone. But when my SIL made me my birthday cake for my birthday last year.. it was a massive castle cake (it was gorgeous) and it was so yummy so i kept the left overs and i just had it on the bench.. it kept for a few days because thats when it was all gone!

I put mine in the fridge. I haven't noticed any difference between keeping them in a container in the cupboard or in the fridge actually, but they only last max 4 days around here anyway.

I keep mine in a tin on the bench. I find that tupperware makes them sweat, but tins don't for some reason?

It depends on the sort of icing.

Ganache is recommended to stay in the fridge because it needs to stay cool.

Fondant definitely does not go in the fridge or anything airtight because it will become sticky & melt.

Buttercream frosting can also stay out of the fridge so long as it's not too hot otherwise it can melt.
