hi all, sorry novice first time mum here (who has almost no friends with children as am only just 23 today lol, and those who do use disposables..)
was just wondering what i should be looking for in a modern cloth nappy for my boy due in december. am not really a fan of the idea of disposables due to the whole world-as-overflowing-landfill thing not to mention the expense.. as am poor student with no partner and can't even bring myself to speak to bub's dad at the moment. which is always good..
so just thought i might ask here at bb for some opinions. am an nz girl so products might be a little different here and this is one site i came across that looked to have potential called simplynappies but ultimately in the ways of how and how much boy's wee am truly in the dark lol!
so just thought i would ask now so i can try to get my head around it in between writing up my case briefs and breaking down statute!

I don't think there's any style for boys or girls, it's more around the fit of the nappy on the child.
Nappies like Baby Beehinds fitteds have inserts that you fold to the area that's needed, and as the boy bits point down (always point them down in a nappy!) I've folded my inserts to be 3 layers thick in the crotch.
My biggest tip would be to buy some nappies second-hand, all different sorts, until you find a style that suits your bub - and as they grow, be prepared to try different types all the time! By buying second-hand, its not a huge outlay for something that may not suit, and you can then buy the best fits new.
