    Help baby with fever

    Hi ladies.

Need some advice. My little DS has had a big fever this evening. It was up to 40.3 and I gave panadol, reduced clothing etc and got it down to 37.7 at 7pm when he went to sleep.

So here's my dilemma, do I risk waking him and try to take his temp again, or just let him rest?

    Not sure what to do...

Feel his forehead and see if you feel that he is hot enough to warrant disturbing him to take his temp. Can you take his temp without waking him??
I found with DS that only nurofen gets his temps down for some reason.
    Good luck its scary stuff.

If it was me, i would leave him sleep but keep an eye on him. Does he usually wake overnight? i'd check it if he woke but otherwise i wouldleave him.
Perhaps you could feel the back of his neck rather than use a thermometer if you were worried....
Hope he is better in the morning, it's not nice when babies are sick.

I agree with Mrsmac, if he feels warm then I would risk waking him and take it again in a few hours. Is he sick? You can always call 13HEALTH if your unsure though.

Goodluck mate, I hate those nights with the unknown. I have been known to sneak a mattress in the girls room when one of them is sick to sleep on... I don't sleep well, but probably better than if I was in another room.

I would go in and feel him and see what you think, remember that when they sleep they warm up anyway.

ETA: posting at same time, good news!!!! YAY! I would go to bed then
