    Clomid for unexplained and miscarriages

    Hi Every-one

Has any-one ever been prescribed Clomid for unexplained subfertility or miscarriges.

Unfortunately I suffer both and have been prescribed clomid by my specialist.

I am unsure if it will be helpful. Any views would be appreciated.

I am sorry to hear of your losses in the past Shell.
I know clomid is prescribed for a variety of reasons including hormone dysfunction and luteal phase defects. If your pregnancys miscarried early then clomid might help however when you have miscarried further into your pregnancy then I don't see how it would help. But I am no expert.

I know women with luteal phase defects (less then 10days from ovulation to AF) If you conceive with a luteal phase defect, you have a greater chance of the pregnancy ending in miscarriage.

This next bit comes from a website which I have included at the bottom.

Clomid helps to make the luteal phase of normal length by increasing the production of progesterone, which is the hormone that helps to maintain the uterine lining, thus helping to maintain a pregnancy.

GL I am sure your specialist has his reasonings and I hope it helps you carry your baby/s to term.

Thank-you so much Emmy! That is very useful and has made me feel more positive.

My luteal phase is 14 days but I do have pain and spotting in this time so I could have a defect. My hormone levels measured normal when tested but it is something I do suspect.

Best of luck with your pregnancy!

I did for baby #2 (as we got lucky and baby #1 surprised us by being super sticky after 2yrs and 2 m/c) and it worked. Turns out I have a corpus luteum insufficiency meaning the corpus luteum cyst that forms after the egg is released that acts as the "placenta" releasing hormones while bub grows to 10wks when the placenta kicks in was bursting so I kept miscarrying by 7-8wks. The clomid fixed it so I made it to 10wks and beyond.

Good luck, I really hope clomid helps you!

I did and fell pregnant twice without miscarriage. DD was a surprise packet natural conception 10 months after DS was born

I also have a blood clotting disorder (Factor V Leiden) and was on aspirin for DS and DD.
