    Post natal hair loss

Sigh. Here I am nearly four months post partum and the post baby hair loss has kicked in. I lost handfuls in the shower today. I do normally lose quite a bit at this stage but my normally very thick and healthy hair is looking quite limp, and I have balding patches at my temples and my parting looks awfully wide.

Is there anything I can do other than just be gentle to it?

I have a friend who mentioned yesterday that she's going through exactly the same. She's a bit worried too. I hope it stops soon. For both of you.

I think it's something that needs to run it's course unfortunately I ended up getting my past shoulder length hair chopped very short after A was born due to all of the fluffy regrowth when he was about 8 months old. The temples were terrible

I had this with both my DD's to the stage I had to get my long hair cut short.
It was bad while I was BF and settled down after.
Yes, it feels like every time you was your hair you are going to come away bald. Try not washing it every day as I found that helped.

Sorry, cannot I help any more.

I was so worried about this. It is only just starting to ease up now. I found not washing my hair as much helped a tiny bit as everytime it was wahed I would lose so much thorugh the washing process and then combing it when wet.

I actually developed two small bald patched near the temples of my head that have all baby hairs growing there now. Quite bizzarre.

I also changed to a fantastic conditione that is a bit exxy but seems to be helping.

Hope it eases for you soon

I lost so much hair after my last baby my hairdresser asked me if I was having chemo It's not fun and I have had it with both my pg so far. My hair is still a complete mess because I have different lengths all over my head.

Sorry I don't have any advice, just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. My hair usually falls out from 3 months after giving birth till about 6 months after. It does stop eventually and I still have some hair left even after losing handfulls in the shower every morning.

to you, I hope it stops soon.

I am like alibaby and have fluffy baby hair growing back now on my bald spots! it has only just started growing back.
I stopped combing my hair in the shower, only washed every 3-4 days (longer if i could get away with it!) and only brushed every second day. I have quite long, thick hair so it was really scary for me to be losing sooosooo much.
Hope it stops and starts growing back really soon for you.
oh I have also heard that low iron can affect it, as in make it worse, I think that was a big part of my problem!

sucks doesn't it? Mines just revving up too. Last time it continues well after I stopped feeding at 17months lol....was only just getting back to normal.
I've had mine cut short too, but it just means shorter hairs are falling out lol.

I read somewhere that your hair doesn't fall out while you're pregnant which is why is gets so thick and nice. Then once the pregnancy is over, all the hair that you would have lost slowly over the 9 months comes out all at the same time. It's a theory ... don't know if there is much in it, but I thought it was interesting.
