    Night Diapers

Ok, so this has probably been asked like a kazillion times, but here goes ... again bare with me

I'm saving up some money atm to import some fabrics that I can't find here (South Africa) to make my handsome boy some wicked handsome buttfluff and also to get some quality night nappies for him that would be able to do the job. I'll only be able to buy two or three, so I really need to do my homework.

So what would you recommend?? Do you need his measurements? He is 8 months old and about 9kg ... hmmm ... yeah he has some chubby legs

Thank you for your opinions and recomendations

do you visit the Nappycino forum? they have a great number of threads you would find useful

    the Night Nappy Saga thread
    the DIY SEWING thread

some useful MCN supply sites for you to buy mcn fabrics/notions at:
    nappies covered
    fairy fabrics
    tiny toosh
    bubba earth

    (all australian)

    greenbeans (nz)

best of luck with your search Nadine. You're right, night nappies are constantly being asked about. "what is the best one" etc. There are quite an investment ($$$) so it's understandable why people are nervous about buying them. When you buy one that suits YOUR bub, they are totally worth it.

my advice is to measure your child before you buy one.
learn how to measure their RISE especially, without that, you run the risk of buyign a night nappy with the wrong rise for your child. if the rise is too low, you'll get leaks galore.
contact the seller/maker of the night nappy, tell them your child's RISE MEASUREMENT and they will tell you whether THEIR night nappy rise will suit your child or not. Saves you paying out the money, and only finding this out when you put the nappy on your child. (expensive way to find out, if the answer is NO).

    to measure rise
start measuring at your child's navel
go down, under their legs and up the other side,
stop measuring at the small of their back
    that is their rise

even if your child suits LOW rise nappies in the day time (e.g itti bittis), for night time nappies, HIGH rise nappies are much better, babies squirm and kick lying down. The aim is to contain EVERYTHING they might do in that nappy, for a long period of time (depending how long baby sleeps), so you're much safer using a long rise nappy on them.

You'll find heaps more tips like this, on the Nappycino thread about "Night Nappy Sagas" or "Sagas of the night nappy" - wording similar to that. You get to read about what other people ahve tried, what worked, what didn't. what to avoid. tricks to rework what you already have, but in a more functional way.
