DH and i are about to buy an investment. 99% is going in my name.....weve sent all paperwork off....just waiting ot hear if we got the loan. Im 99% sure my credit rating is all ok. In yr 2000 i had a mobile bill with the now defunked One Tel.....i never paid the amount outstanding....ive never received a letter from them or anyone else.....does that mean im ok? For some reason im nervous...i dont have a credit card, i think im pretty clean.......just worried about that mobile bill 9 years ago - will it come back to haunt me ???
A default stays on your history for 7 years so if it was on there it is most likely gone. You can request a free copy of your credit history from veda advantage
I used to work for One.Tel and no one got a letter or had to pay any amounts owning.
So you will be totally fine! I am sure you know that by now.. since this is a old post.

I sent off to Dun & Bradstreet recently to get a copy of my credit rating since I have recently set up my own business and wanted to get a couple of mobiles (we use prepaid). I failed the check, even though the result from D&B was TOTALLY clean.
It wasn't until I got an email from a supplier I was trying to get an account with let me know what I had failed on! There were two things that appeared on my rating, and NEITHER of these two things appeared on the D&B search. One of the results is a 'default' even though I am paying it off, so that I don't really understand, except for the fact that I am stuffed, especially now with several more entries, even though they are just 'enquiries' they stay on there for about five years I think. So now I have to wait five years to be rid of five new enquiries. Great. And all because the result I got from D&B wasn't correct.
