Low Iron - Will I Have To Take Supplements For Life?

I'm buggered. This happens any time I forget to take my iron tablets for a few days. I'm as tired as when I was getting up at 4am for the day.

I know I'm low in iron but I've been taking these frigging supplements for two years now. So does that mean I just have to take them for life?

I know I should go to the doctor - don't like doctors and can't muster the energy.

It's not my diet - I eat healthily and well.

Just sick of feeling poleaxed whenever I forget to take stupid tablets.

are you sure it is your iron levels? It could be your Vit D levels. Also, if your iron levels are that bad that missing 1 tablet is a massive issue for you, you might need B12 injections or even an iron transfusion. Perhaps try taking a combination of iron and folate (FeFol) as it actually helps absorb both better...
