So I want to know about your babies poo

I am having some issues with Avaleighs poos. Now they always say if your baby has green, runny, smelly poos to go to the doctor however in my opinion Avaleigh generally always has runny (not watery but runny) green smelly poo...is she sick or is this normal? She some times has more solids ones but generally 70% runny.

Is there anyone else out there whos baby has runny green poos all the time?

Your let down can have an effect on her poo. If you have hard, fast let down they can get too much fore milk which can make their poo green.
There are other reasons too. If she seems other wise fine, it should be ok. Maybe you could try expressing some off before a feed? See if it helps?

my bubbas poo changes from mustardy yellow to a green, almost pesto-ish color, depending on the day. she hasn't been sick, doesn't seem to have any issues with it at all - it's just normal variation. if you're concerned, it's better for your own peace of mind to get it checked. it does sound normal, but you need to do what is best for you to be comfy with it kwim?

My bub's poo has been green from 3 weeks on as that is when we had to go to mixed feeding -ie formula as well as boob. The iron in formula makes poo green so if you are using formula it could be that. If not and just booby- I still wouldn't worry, as long as it is normal for her she is gaining weight and not dehydrated.

Thanks so much - I do have a HUGE let down, so I will make sure that I express if I am feeling really full...it seems to be the fatty milk that I am lacking...seriously I let down and then basically have nothing...does anyone know how to build the fatty milk? I should ask on another thread.

There is nothing wrong with green poo! If you have a huge let down, this well might be the reason. However, unless it is causing her to be unsettled, I wouldn't worry about it. Green poo never hurt anyone!!

GM, my DS had green poo until about a month ago which is also when my supply settled right down. Now they are just like a mustardy colour. As everyone else has said, it seems quite normal. DS was never bothered, getting plenty to eat, happy and putting on weight which is the most important thing.

Phoebe had green poo today Who knows whether it'll be back to yellowy-brown tomorrow...? LOL!
Sounds normal to me, mate. As for having 'nothing' after your letdown, I think you'd be surprised. Sometimes it feels to me like Phoebe's just sucking away and not swallowing any milk after the initial gush is over, but often when she comes off there's creamy milk round her mouth and I'm able to squeeze a bit more out if I try.

Oh yeah, there is nothing wrong with your milk hun. You are making just the right type!!

How often does she feed? If she is having at least 5 heavily wet disposable nappies in 24 hours, and gaining weight over a 3 -4 week period (bear in mind that her gains will start to slow down around about now), then she is getting enough milk (and the right milk!).

Yep, my DS's poos are green and runny 99% of the time. We've actually never had a a solid type poo. But I have found that if I get the poo when it's fresher (sorry TMI) it is more of a yellowy colour (with a green tinge). If it has time to dry it goes very green... I was also a bit worried, but like you he seems very happy and is doing all the things a healthy baby should so I have just accepted it (thanks to the advice of some lovely ladies here). I did also mention it to the paed when we had our 6 week check up and he didn't bat an eyelid, so I'm confident that it is nothing for you to worry about as long as she has all the signs of being a healthy and happy bubba.

yep i agree with the girls above - totally normal and as long as she is gaining weight, wet nappies (and dirty - which obv she has) i wouldnt worry...
i think there can be lots of variation in colour etc and i also have a FAST let down and when it is crazy fast Mr J will also have amore green tinge to the poo (geez the things we analyse!!)
