    Inducing after C Section

    Hi I am currently 38 weeks pregnant and am wanting to attempt a VBAC. I am terrified I won't go into labour. My question is do they induce you if you go over or is a C Section my only option?

    Thanks!

    They wont induce you in the traditional way with the synctocinon drip or gel, but you can be induced via ARM (having your waters broken) or sometimes they may use the balloon method.

    ^^ Yep that ^^

    I asked my Ob about this and he uses the balloon method. Basically its using a catheda balloon that is inflated which opens up the cervix. He also said that the baby gets monitored pretty closely for distress etc. Not sure if that is common but its what he does.

    Im currently 39 weeks and having a VBAC. My OB won't induce me and I won't have a c section I told her so Im just waiting on bub. I know it's hard but you won't be pregnant forever. You have come this far so if you can hang in there a bit longer. Your bub will come when ready.

    It really depends on your OB. I had a VBA2C in MArch that was induced. I had a baloon catheder ( to ripen my cervix) then ARM then we waited..... then I had the synto drip but this was stopped after about 30min (as soon as I was in established labor). I only had the synto on half dose as well The only thing they absolutly can't do is give u the prostaglandin gel as it has been shown to increase the rate of rupture.
    It really depends on your OB and what he/she is comfortable/confident with using. Its best to wait if u can. I couldn't wait as bubba had stopped moving and we were worried about his health. Oh and I had no monitoring because I refused it! U can have as much or as little interventions as YOU feel comfortable with. Good luck!

    I would have nothing if I was you. Let bubs come when they are ready.

    The balloons don't always work. I had them with Ashton, my plug came out with the balloons but nothing happened, they ruptured my membranes but nothing happened. I ended up on the synto drip.

    I didn't think induction was reccomended with VBAC??

    There are limits to induction as mentioned already - its up to you and your OB/hospt. I am due in 8 days with bubs #2. This is what my OB and I have agreed to;

    # Raspberry leaf tea from 37 weeks (OB's timeline suggestion)

    # Acupuncture from 36 weeks (but I was too slack to get it done!)

    # Clary Sage oil buring at 39 weeks (my timeline not hers)

    # Sex and hot curry's from 39 weeks (my timeline not hers)

    # Internal at 40 weeks appt to see if I am dilating and if so then a Stretch and Sweep (OB's timeline suggestion)

    # AROM at 41 weeks but then I have to deliver within 24 hours (OB's timeline suggestion)

    # Can also have low synto drip but no prostaglandin gels.
