That is definitely false advertising. I would report it, as the item description does not match the item that is for sale - they are claiming it is a certain brand, when it is not.
I haven been looking at cots on e-bay. There is a specific brand that i am after. I found one that was not advertised in the title) with the *Brand name, but the pic looks like it and in the descriptor they use the *Brand name and say this"
I have changed it a little, but all the claims here are from the Ad. They also have a link to the *Brand website.
What you see in the picture is what you get.
Here is some features the cot from the website
The *Brand Baby Cot promotes sound sleep through ...
The *Brand Cot is Recommended and Endorsed by ....
IMPORTANT: The only safe and practical way to use our patented *Brand cot is to hang it from our patented *Brand frame.
Baby cots that hang from ceilings, beams and doorways are, in our opinion, extremely unsafe.
The Original & Safest Baby Cot in the Market
I wrote and asked them if the item was an original *Brand.
I got an e-mail back that said
I think this is false advertising. I am really glad that i asked the question before bidding on the item. Would you report it?Thanks for your question this is not the original *Brand cot but exactly similar to it.
That is definitely false advertising. I would report it, as the item description does not match the item that is for sale - they are claiming it is a certain brand, when it is not.
I would send an email to the company that actually produces the product and draw the add to their attention - they are the ones that are suffering.
Also, as an aside - how can something be "exactly similar" - surely it is exactly the same or it is similar...
Absolutely report it. It's a sneaky way some sellers get more 'hits' on their product, by using a popular, high searched brand name.
I love their response exactly similar
I would report it to Ebay AND email the original brand company and let them know that *Brand has been stating theirs is "exactly similar"
Nae x
exactly similar? nice response.. lol
id definitely report it!
Oh YES Kate report them... next person that may purchase off them could be some financial battling couple pregnant with their 1st child ... Kate you could save them some huge heartache and save them their money on an item that isn't 'exactly' what they want !!!
totally report it. that is soooo wrong
ROFL and I'm exactly similar to Miranda Kerr![]()
I got a reply from e-bay. They agreed that "Posting false or misleading information is a violation of eBay policy......however, E-bay "is simply not in a position to authenticate items......" and bidders are encouraged to ask sellers about the item and ask for documents or other materials to authenticate the item.
So, basically i had to purchase the item, and then make a complaint for them to investigate the claim. What a joke.
If it's a violation of their policy, then they should shut down the listing and be sending the seller a strongly worded warning. Why even bother having rules and policies if they can't police them? What a joke!
