HCG rising after m/c. Anyone being in this boat?

I knew I m/c 2weeks ago when my HCG went from 70 to 60 in 72hrs. Well fast forward 1.5weeks I started bleeding finally. Now after 6days of bleeding my HCG appears to have gone higher. I have being having pregnancy symptoms that are getting stronger like nausea and sore boobs and did a HPT hoping to see the line getting fainter but it is super dark like darker then it ever has being during my last 3pregnancies. Without knowing the exact HCG number till my BT confirms it tomorrow I already know its much higher then 70. Numerous HPT have come back super positive and when it was 70 and I thought my pregnancy was progressing the line was only half as dark as the control line. Now its much much darker then the control line and comes up as quick as the line moves.
So I know increasing HCG after a m/c can be caused by retained products, ectopic pregnancy or molar pregnancy. I am just wondering if anyone has had this happen and what did it mean? I just want this to be over and the wait is really getting to me.

    Hi Emmy

When it happened to me, my levels continued to go up and down. I had an ectopic pregnancy.

There could be a few reasons for this happening, just see what the results say.

    Good Luck

To me this may sound like an ectopic (sorry to scare you!) i would be getting this followed up with a scan as soon as possible, however if you experiance any pain, ANY PAIN! i would go straight to emergency and get them to run sone test. In fact i would get it checked tonight, but having been there before and not knowing it is scary, i hope for you that it is not the case and that maybe you lost a twin and the other is now growing nicely. It is hard to saw without a medical dix

Thanks ladies. I have had Ovary pain which had me in ED a week ago but the scan showed the corpus letheum on the opposite side to where the pain was so they were sure it wasn't an ectopic then. With an ectopic is it common for HCG to go down then go back up? I thought it was a slow rise not a drop then a rise again. Also do you bleed with an ectopic like you have m/c but haven't really? I am not going to rush of tonight but I know something is not right. for this to be over soon.

Emmy with an ectopic pregnancy the levels can do funny things... However with no pain that's a good sign - however as the others have said the pain can commence at any stage and you need to get medical help if you do experience any pain.

There are some rare things that can cause this - sometimes if some placental tissue is left behind this can continue to grow and thus the HCG rise will occur.

As Loula said the happiest of outcomes is that there was two in there and one has held on tight.

You do need to have repeat bloods and a repeat u/s. I hope you can get to your care provider tomorrow... Big hugs my love.

My ectopic was 9 weeks (backpacking in Morocco!) and i had no idea! no idea that i was even pg, although looking back it was clear with my BB! i went for a routine PCOS scan on my return to UK before moving to Melb to have up to date info for my new guynie and they discovered it! i had normal af and no pain (or no more then usual!) i had emergency surgery straigh away.

Hopeing yours is a more positive outcome

I believ you can O from one side and use the other tube, not common but possible, did they find a sac? or check your tubes, if you levels were only 60/70 then you would not expect to 'see' anything so soon.

Let us know how you get on hun, thinking of you tomorrow

They said they could see what looked like an empty sac in my uterus but also said it could be something else as lots of things on the endometrium can come up looking the same. They said they couldn't see my tubes and normally they only see them if there is a problem with them or one of them.

Just thought I would update you all. HCG today is 5150. On the 17th August it was 69, 20th August 62, now 5th 5150. I personlally think its an ectopic also. I have being having niggly pain in both ovaries. No one seems to want to know about it. My Dr actually told me I am pregnant like I didn't m/c after all and I will still have a baby. I wish I could think that. I am about to call the hospital and see what they suggest but I think I will get shunted again

Emmy- Sorry to hear of ur troubles. I had a m/c in August last year. I bled for a few days, and then 11 days later fell pregnant with Logan. When I POAS, it came up positive really quick. When I went for the u/s, they could see the sac but nothing in it, and thats because it was too early to see anything. A few weeks later, I went back for another scan, and could see bubs and a h/b.
Fingers crossed it all turns out ok, and its not an ectopic.

Hi my thoughts were along the lines of the other girls, retained products ectopic etc, but now I am thinking maybe there is a twin that has stayed and you lost the other?? I would definatly be getting another scan done.... by now you will know for sure and also should get a HB I beleive over HCG6000. Good luck.

Coco I wish I had a sticky bean. Turns out I had an ectopic pregnancy. Had my tube removed on the weekend. Very sad about it and not doing very well at the moment. They also found adhesions and endo. I don't think we can ttc for 3months or 3cycles and I am so worried about it happening again. Apparently although we have being trying for a year now we are back to square one also in counting months until the Gyno will look into why as now we have a reason. I feel our chances are being halved again of conceiving and then add the risk of another ectopic due to the damage thats already there.

Emmy I am so so so sorry

God I dont know what to say. I feel awful after saying what I did, Im so sorry.

I can completely empathise with being back to square one. I am there too after the laparoscopy...being TTC for 2 years now...one pg ending in m/c and endo removed and now back to the begining...technically this is our second month TTC jeeeeesus...

I hope you have some good news very soon. Please feel free to contact me whenever you like.

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Big hugs, Coco
