How can you tell when bub wants more food?

*Not sure if this is in the right area - mods feel free to move*

I am doing a mixture of 'spoon feeding' (I use the term loosely, cause he basically still feeds himself) and BLS with my DS. We started about a week before he turned 6 months and it's been going well. At the moment I am doing breakfast and dinner solids (after a full b/f) - usually doing one meal spoon feeding and the other meal finger foods, so he gets a bit of both.

In the past week he is really getting into his food - he has been getting very excited when he sees the food coming his way, lol. With the spoon feeding he finishes everything I've prepared for him, and with the finger foods he keeps going with it until he's pretty well demolished what was in front of him! So, as he is going so well with his food, should I start offering more at those meals, or perhaps start offering lunch solids as well?

How did you know that your bub was ready for more?

With DS it was probably close to 8 months before he really got into solids. It was like something just went 'click' in his head and he really started eating and looking expectantly for more. Can't remember any specific signs though.
Sounds like he's going well with the food. I guess at this age you want to make sure he's had milk first so he doesn't displace too much with solids, but if he's finished everything and seems hungry still, you could offer more. Maybe going to another solids meal rather than offering more at each feed might work better - i *think* that's what we did, though I can't actually remember.
As they get older it's easier - just feed them till they won't have any more

    Thanks marcellus
I think I do vaguely remember reading something about babies being on three meals of solids a day by 7 months... Mmm, can't quite remember where I read that. It just seems so quick to be on 3 meals a day when he only started on solids at just before 6 months.
It's only been in the past week that (like you said) something has 'clicked' with DS, and he seems to be getting really excited (and impatient, lol) about getting his food.

Yeah, it's a hard one cause they're all so different. But then that goes for everything with babies I guess.
Just go with your gut (and his). If you offer him more and he doesn't have it then there's your answer.

i wouldnt worry about having 3 meals a day by 7 months! DD isnt on solids (we did for 5 days then stopped again) and shes 6.5 months, sounds like your both going great! id just make sure he's still having full BF's and not dropping any
