anyone have this problem with the meridian car seat?

it seems that when i have tightened the belt on the car seat with baby in it, the straps that go across the upper thigh dig in really tight and leave red marks on babys thighs. not only this but sometimes as it tightens in catches her skin and pinches it in the same thigh area. i am not over tightening it because there is still room between straps and upper chest area. she doesnt even have chubby legs really.

It has been a while since I've had a child in the rear facing position but I don't recall that happening. Possibly it's just to do with her size and shape or something. Could you pad the straps or something? Or put something soft between the strap and her legs?

From memory, I think Matthew had this happen too with the Compaq Deluxe. I used to make sure he was wearing shorts and that helped. I've got the Meridian now and I recently bought a pair of strap pads that wrap around from one of those popular auto shops. Very handy because I found he was getting strap marks on his face and neck when he fell asleep in his seat...

Can't say I've ever had that problem. Do you still have the infant insert in though? That may be the cause of the problem as it'd be lifting her too high and she's probably too big for the insert if you are still using it. Other than that the only other thing I can think of is the seat/straps need adjusting or moving???

hey ozzie. yes the instert is still in it and i actually feel that is part of the problem. except the instructions say that you need to keep it in until they are 10kg or forward facing! DD is only 6.7kg. the shoulder straps are in the right place, i dont think you can move the buckle up or down but it would solve the problem i think.

mmmm don't recall that in the instructions. In fact, we've just moved Elijah out of the capsule and into the seat this weekend with NO insert. I remember when I returned the capsule to the ambulance after Oskar had finished with it I asked them to check the seat for Oskar (meridian rear facing) and I had the insert in and the first thing he did was tell me that it had to go as he was sitting too high for a start. He was under 10kg and it all worked better once it was out. The bub/child needs to be sitting "in" the seat if that makes sense not looking like they're "on" it. So, from the side she should be looking like she's more nestled into it and not kinda above if that you get what I mean. Pm me if you like You could also probably make an appt at the ambulance to check your install and they'll let you know

im pretty sure the strap between the legs is adjustable as it needs to sit on the hip bone and not to high. if you could lengthen it slightly that may help.
i know i had to shorten DD's as the buckle was sitting up to high on her
