Rubie looks fine to me
... I love to tell people the my DD's grandfather grew up in a pretty little town called Ruby in Vic (not many people know it exists)![]()
Ruby is one of my top 2 names, not sure how to spell it thou.
im not that fond of names that end in Y, so have been thinking Rubie
what do you think?

I think Rubie looks fine too, but you and eventually she will be forever spelling it for people so they get it right. I personally find it very frustrating when people cannot spell my name and its not that hard or a variant of the original.
smiles4u - I know Ruby![]()
Rubie is fine. I would prefer Ruby tho. My parents called me Hollye (Holly) and im sooo sick of spelling it to people and even when they do they dont understand.
I don like it sorry.
i love the name Ruby though, just not pointless and confusing spelling changes
I prefer the good Ol Ruby to Rubie...have you thought of mabye using Rubee? (actually it reminds me of Indian currency!) or Just Rubi. Y or IE...it still sounds the same!
I much prefer Ruby, to me, Rubie just doesn't look quite right![]()
Nah...
I love the name Ruby and like the traditional spelling of it- no chance of getting the spelling wrong
- i have to spell my name all the time as ppl just assume its with a J not a G....gets very annoying

Ruby was one of our top two girls names as well, I think it is quite pretty when it ends in the 'ie' as well, but I think the others are right, it is a pain having to spell out your name and even when you do people inevitably get it wrong. If you have a simple surname then maybe it isn't so much of a pain, but if you ever need to spell out your surname as well it can get a bit much...
I have an unusual spelling, and have to spell my name for everyone, yeah I get frustrated.
But I also have to spell Jasmine to everyone too. People don't assume anymore, because there are such different spellings these days. So don't let that deter you.
If you called her Sarah, people would ask "is it Sarah, Sara, Sera...?".
So go for whatever you like the most. I like the look of Ruby myself, but choose whatever you like best![]()
I don't mind it
Weigh it up with how difficult your surname is to spell. My Ruby was named in honour of her Great Grandmother so we weren't going to change the spelling but because we also have a tricky surname to deal with was another reason to stick with the traditional spelling.
I love the name Ruby and while I'm not usually a fan of changing the spelling from the traditional, I do like the idea of Rubie. I think it's still very pretty and makes it a little bit more unique, as I do know of a few little girls named Ruby.
Even when you have an easy name it gets misspelt by people who haven't a clue; I am Jo and you wouldn't believe how many people spell it Joe. I would have thought it was fairly obvious that a) that's the male spelling and b) last time I checked I was not a man.
Choose whichever you like best in your heart and good luck!
Ruby!
I think if you like Ruby, but don't want the Y, I'd go for Rubi - it's still pretty.
Good luck!
