    Question Anyone know about microchipping?

My brother is looking after my little dog while we are overseas.
He's in QLD and I'm in NSW.
I don't want to transfer ownership, I just want his details registered as the temporary carer while we're OS. Is this possible or will I need to transfer ownership to him and then back to me?

I am not sure but would suggest ringing the register and asking them as you want to be certain it is all done correctly.

    Good luck and enjoy trip!!

brontide, call your local council and tell them you wish to change address details for the dog as you are going away and dog won't be with you. there is a section on the form for the address where the dog lives (your brothers address) and a section for the owner's home address. also put your brother as a secondary contact and ask them to make a note (there is an additional notes section) that the dog is living with your brother temporarily but you are still the owner.
i would also check with the council where your brother lives to see what their requirements are aas pet laws differ from state to state (e.g. you may have to have your dog added to the register used in qld...it sucks that there isn't a widely used national register..there is one called AAR you can have your dog added to, but to be on the safe side i'd also see if you needed to have the dog added to the one qld councils use most often. in the event your pet does go missing it's better to have their chip details on as many registers as possible.

    Hi there,
How long does he have the dog for? If it is shorter than 2 weeks don't worry too much about it.
If it is longer put him on as the secondary contact in the NSW register and make sure he keeps his details up to date. Sign a few change of detail forms before you go in case he moves while you are away. Also register your dog on the AAR register as QLD councils won't look on the NSW register. But do the same - you are the legal owner but have your brother as the secondary contact. Your dog will also need to be registered with the local council which in QLD is annually.
    Hope this helps.
